Savage Tooele Railroad

This includes expanding the Savage Transload Network, developing intermodal ramps, building and operating storage in transit (SIT) yards, and developing short line railroads. The Savage Tooele Railroad (STR) will be Utah’s newest railroad in nearly a century. STR brings rail access back to the local market and opens rail access to the Lakeview Business Park.

The Savage Tooele Railroad will serve businesses in the Lakeview Business Park in Grantsville, Utah, connecting them with the nearby Union Pacific mainline. This convenient rail access helps Customers and site selectors bring their businesses to Tooele County. Savage held a groundbreaking event November 7, 2024 marking the start of construction on Utah’s first new railroad in decades.

Multipurpose Rail-Served Property

Many businesses can benefit from this new rail-served property. The STR short line will provide access to the UP mainline and make it possible for varied products such as industrial and medical supplies, liquid fuels, and textiles to be shipped to and from the business park. STR will benefit:
